Motion Graphics

Downtown Shuffle: WFH is now WFW!

Downtown Shuffle: WFH is now WFW! celebrates the return of downtown business activities and the continuing challenges these areas face. The isometric graphics were developed in Illustrator, animated in Animate and rendered with Premiere Pro.

The approach I took for the other two graphics was more illustrative and involved animation as well. The process was entirely digital, beginning with sketches and full-resolution illustrations on an iPad, then moving the assets onto a desktop where they were organized, animated and rendered into their final formats.

The projects utilized Procreate, Adobe Fresco, Illustrator for iPad and for desktop, Photoshop, After Effects and Media Encoder. There are more motion graphics in the queue, and I’ll be sure to post them here once they’re completed.

Paloma's Secret

Book Covers

One of the most ambitious projects I had the opportunity to work on in recent years was the children's book titled Paloma's Secret. I partnered with writers Amy Fabrikant & Mia Hood, conceptualizing the look and feel and its overall direction. When we first got started, I had no idea how big the project would be.

The sketches and storyboards were done with pencil on paper. Once approved, I developed those sketches into final line drawings in Corel Painter, in which the pages would be colored as well. The artwork was brought into InDesign, where it was laid out with the text and instructor-help elements. There were rewrites, redraws and entire spreads that needed re-designing throughout the entire process.

I created a website and marketing materials to promote Paloma's Secret and created Pebbles Press to actually publish the book. Today, Paloma's Secret can be found on Amazon.com in both softcover and Kindle versions in both English and Spanish. This was a massive project that I was happy and proud to have been a part of.

David

From time to time, I'll make use of this grouchy character (and his cat) to communicate some information about the website or other activities. His name is David. He began as a charicature of a childhood friend of my sister and I, but today, and for the longest time, he's more of an alter ego,

David: Under Construction was created in Adobe Animate and exported as an animated GIF.

When Working From Home was created in Adobe Fresco, Photoshop and AfterEffects. This was a responce to how so many of us were forced to islolate at home and work remotely.
